Colourful Scandi Living Room, Surbiton

These clients lived in a townhouse and wanted to create a new design and colour scheme in their living room which had an awkward l-shaped layout. They had a young family and another living space in their open plan kitchen diner so wanted this to be a more adult space where they could relax and unwind in the evenings and at weekends.

The brief was to create a colourful scandi theme in the room and help with the layout of the space. We decided to use a blue and grey colour scheme in this room with the pops of yellow to add some excitement and interest to the space.

The room is painted in Farrow and Ball 'Stiffkey Blue' and Little Greene 'French Grey' for the feature wall which work really well together. The blinds are kept plain in a blue fabric to match the feature wall and the sofa in a plain grey. This helps create the clean Scandi look the clients were looking for and is brightened up with the yellow pops of colour in the cushions and rug. The clients also had a bespoke fitted bookcase put in which helps utilise the dead space at that side of the room and creates a purpose here. For the furniture, we kept this minimal, again to fit in with the Scandi theme but with a bit of copper added for interest.

The finished room provides a lovely clean feel with the added pop of yellow giving a some fun and interest to the space, very much a modern Scandi, but colourful, design.
